it’s a cold afternoon in South Korea. i’m in this local cozy coffeeshop that happens to play my favorite playlist in the background. and it just occurred to me that may be there is nothing that a good cup of coffee, dark chocolate and myself can’t fix.
it was one of the days that i woke up and i felt like i had to try something i have never had the chance or thought about trying before. i thought i should go on a date with myself. so i wore one of my best dresses, one of my best shoes, put on make up and i was ready for my date. it was my first time to actually ever go out on a date alone. the idea sounded even absurd to me, but i had to try and see.
Once, one of my friends told me” if you want to find God, go to a place where there are no people, and just listen. You will realize that everything around you is alive and you will find that God is everywhere..”
So I’ve decided to write a series of posts about my Korean experience since, it’s been something I haven’t really done and felt the need to do.
Okay I know I have said that like may be a hundred times before, but I really, really, really, like traveling. No, I mean It doesn’t even have to be traveling to another country, as long as I am moving, seeing new places, meeting new people. Life on move is my kind of life.
Awhile back, I participated in a four days workshop in Suwon, a small province located in the south of Seoul about Korea community development movement which is called Saemaul Undong. The training was held for foreign students from across South Korea. We were taught in the workshop about Korea and how they developed in a short time and went from agriculture to industrial development.
What is your favorite story? have you ever thought about one?
I am not talking about the stories you read in books, those stories belong to someone else’s story. I mean have you ever thought about which part of your life is your favorite story?
Have you ever seen the twinkle star? No, let me rephrase it. Do you believe in it?
I haven’t seen it. Not yet. Not in the real world though, but I have seen it once in my dream and it was the most magical thing I have seen. Only that it was just in my dream.
There is something special about being in a new place. It goes beyond being in the place itself to the feeling that your life can change at any given moment. That something magical can happen at any time. This is why people love to travel.
The other day, I was eating in a restaurant, a father and his daughter came to sit beside me. I couldn’t stop myself from smiling and feeling that beautiful pure connection between the two.
